I
added some relatively new music from a 2004 CD by
transcargo "idle luxury". |
16 january 2006
I
refreshed the songs from The
Legendary Pink Dots from a CD
called "Island of Jewels".
Do not listen too closely as this stuff is clearly intoxicating in
higher doses.
Additionally
I added in a few tracks from the old 4AD compilation called "Lonely
Is An Eyesore"
...and
from 1982 I located a CD from
Die Haut and Nick Cave "Burnin'
The Ice". I added a couple of punky tracks.
...and
how about some gothic strumming from a compilation called "Secret
Lords - A Heidenvolk Collaboration". It's
actually pretty interesting.
Here's
another blast from the past with
Psychic TV "Godstar - The
Singles Pt.2"
on the Cleopatra label from 1995.
A
bit lighter is
Virginia Astley "Hope In A
Darkened Heart" with production from Ryuichi
Sakamoto, formerly of YMO. |

One of
my favorite post-rock almost folky and almost ambient CDs is
Sam Prekop's
first and self-titled solo.
Christmas
is pretty mutant for me this year so a compilation called
"A Mutated Christmas"
is pretty appropriate for Channel Z.
 I
refreshed the station's music from the
Residents with some stuff from
Roosevelt 2.0. The
CD comes in a standard CD case inside a wooden box in the edition I
got. |
11 december 2005
I
finally got around to adding some tracks from a very rare Xmas
compilation from my favorite classic label Les Disques Due
Crepuscule called "Ghosts of
Christmas Past."
I added
a few selections from Heavenly
Bodies'
CD "Celestial"
on the C'est La Mort label from 1988. This stuff predated a
lot of current Gothic music.
I
added a couple of selections from
The Spirit of Eden's "The Sun
The Moon and The Stars"
which is fairly new-agey and poppy, but pretty nevertheless.
It's actually Celtic music. |
10 december 2005
I added
some selections from
Black Tape for a Blue Girl's
"remnants of a deeper purity"
CD to the Z-stream today. I'm in a gothic mood I guess.
I
also added some literally acid freaky cuts from Keith
LeBlanc's "Freakatorium"
CD.
I've
lately become attached to the pristine synth-pop on this nice
compilation called
"Star Gazing."
Madchester
pop-rock is still groovey 10 years on on
The Farm's "Spartacus." |

...and a
couple of tracks from Faultline's CD "Closer Colder" also.

Mugimama - Is this Monkey Music? |
10 july 2005
I added some new music today: a few
selections from The Blow Monkey's
compilation called
"Choices - The Singles
Collection" from 1989.
The band is kind of pop dance house.
Dr. Robert is the
main man and is still active in the music world. |
18 june 2005
It's about time I added a few
tracks from one of my all time favorite bands and CDs: New
Order "Power, Corruption, & Lies" |

made over the last couple of weeks:
Delphine
Seyrig & Steven Brown - De Doute Et De Grace
[a French soundtrack with one of the guys from Tuxedomoon]
Peter Principle - Ain't
Superstitious
[a strange voice with unusual music on Made To Measure...this may
account for shugazr's hallucinosis]

[the cut-up boys make fun of advertising soft drinks and get into
trouble for it...as usual]
Belle And Sebastian - Fold Your
Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant

I added selections from another
overlooked Made To Measure CD called
"Domino One" by
Ramuntcho Matta, a
Chilean artist.The CD is described
as "Ambient/Jazz/Latin
soundtracks created for choreographer Régine Chopinot, for a Spanish
theatre group, and for a magnificent video by Ramuntcho's father,
illustrious Chilean painter Roberto Matta. Featuring musicians from
various origins (Brazil, Cuba, Uruguay, India, Algeria), among which
Elli Medeiros, saxophonist Cacau (ex-member of Hermeto
Pascoal's group), and trumpet player Guillermo Fellove (who
played in the legendary Perez Prado band)."
I also added a few selections from a
compilation called
Dada and Futurism Reviewed.
The CD is described as a "Archive
aural document collection edited by James Nice and originally
released via Sub Rosa in 1989. This unique CD compiles over an hour
of original sound recordings made between 1912 and 1959 by
luminaries from both 20th Century art movements, including:
Marinetti, Antonio Russolo, Jean Cocteau, Marcel Duchamp, Wyndham
Lewis, Guillaume Apollinaire, Kurt Schwitters, Tristan Tzara, Marcel
Janco and Richard Huelsenbeck. Includes musical and interview
material, tone poems, and sleevenotes. Artwork by Joël Van
Audenhaege.
"The most enthralling LTM project to date, should lie in every
record collection bar none" (Melody Maker, 12/1988); "Blows the
pants off most of the crap which passes for pop these days" (Marie
Claire, 1988); "Wonderful... You could imagine Tim Burton using it
for a camp re-creation of a silent frightener" (The Guardian,
11/2000); "This is exceptional - from Wyndham Lewis’ poshtones to
some skippy jazz-hot from Jean Cocteau, this is unremittingly fresh
and joyous." (The Wire, 10/2000). See also
Surrealism Reviewed
(LTMCD 2343). |
